Jestycef-50 Dry Syrup is an oral antibiotic formulation designed for pediatric use. It contains cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin that works by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of susceptible microorganisms. The formulation comes as a powder that must be reconstituted with clean water before administration, forming a palatable suspension suitable for children who cannot swallow tablets.
This medication is commonly prescribed for infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and ears. Typical indications include acute otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
