Description

Gogesic-P tablet is a combination medication used primarily for the management of pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal and joint disorders. It combines two active ingredients — Aceclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), a widely used analgesic and antipyretic. This synergistic formulation provides enhanced pain relief with a reduced risk of adverse effects compared to higher doses of individual components. Mechanism of Action: Aceclofenac works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins that are responsible for pain, inflammation, and swelling. Paracetamol complements this action by blocking central pain pathways and reducing fever through inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the brain. Together, they provide effective relief from pain and fever while minimizing gastrointestinal irritation commonly associated with NSAIDs. Indications: This combination is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, dental pain, postoperative pain, backache, muscle pain, and headache. Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet taken twice daily after meals, or as directed by a physician. It should be swallowed whole with water and not chewed or crushed. Duration of therapy depends on the patient’s clinical condition and medical advice. Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, dizziness, or mild skin rash. Serious adverse effects like gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatotoxicity, or hypersensitivity reactions are rare but require immediate medical attention. Precautions: The medication should be used cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment, peptic ulcer disease, hypertension, or cardiovascular disorders. Alcohol consumption should be avoided to prevent liver toxicity. It is not recommended during pregnancy or lactation without medical supervision.
